The BPM was born from a bariatric practice and recognizes the importance of a low-cost, easy to use solution for patient tracking (the lack of one is the reason for its development).

A comprehensive patient portal for pre-operative and post-operative data collection

Comprehensive Patient Portal allows for initial intake information gathering as well as sequential, followup data


The patient portal is a critical component of the BPM. In our practice, the majority of the information in the database is entered by the patient, or by our call center, in consultation with the patient. The BPM patient portal not only serves the patient for his or her initial intake, but also provides an opportunity for the patient to communicate with the practice throughout the pre-operative workup and beyond, into the patient’s post-operative care.

Patients can not only enter their medical history online, but also view the status of their workup, create a virtual, postoperative visit in which the update the practice as to their weight, co-morbidity status, medication status and answer questions about their symptoms.

Finally, the patient can upload before and after pictures and also view any letters that you have designated that they have access to. For instance, we give all lap-band patients access to their operative dictation and post-operative letters so that they have a record of their band size and serial number as well as the number of fills and amount of fluid in their band. We’ve found that providing patients access to their workup has greatly decreased the number of calls to our practice and also minimizes the amount of our office staff’s data entry work necessary for post-operative visits.
